Genetic compatibility test

At the Oyala Gynecology and Fertility Center, in addition to helping women and couples achieve their dream of starting a family, we care about the health of the future baby. Therefore, in all our clinics we offer the possibility that every couple who wants to, can take the Genetic Compatibility Test.

1. What is the genetic compatibility test?

Although the two members of the couple are healthy and have not developed any genetic disease, they can be carriers of certain diseases. In case the two parents have the same gene mutation, there is a 25% chance that their future child will develop that pathology.

The Genetic Compatibility Test offers information on the genetic endowment of both the mother and the father, related to different diseases caused by recessive genes. This analysis of genetic compatibility, based on a blood test, allows the detection of more than 300 diseases of recessive inheritance. In this way, parents can know the probability that their future child inherits the disease and thus avoid it. There are two options to conceive a child free of this pathology:

IVF with Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

In this case, In Vitro Fertilization is used with genetic analysis of the embryos to rule out those who could develop the disease.

Gamete Donation

Another option is to use donor semen or semen for assisted reproduction treatment. A free gamete is selected to be a carrier of the same disease as the patients.
